Tool love

1–2 minutes

Time to chat about tools! We know it’s important to use the right tool for the right job. This ensures you get good results and don’t have to spend more time and energy than you need to.

The other part of the equation is maintaining your tools so that they continue to actually do the job – and thereby saving yourself the money for repairs or replacements!

Personally, I quite like an evening of cleaning, sharpening and oiling the old secateurs, loppers etc – if only for the satisfaction of knowing they won’t end up like my poor neglected secateurs that live down the allotment!

And look at the gunk in that chainsaw! All in a single day’s work in the woods, where we’ve been restoring an overgrown coppice today.

So off I go to scrape, wipe and sharpen…

Oh and let’s not forget that the best tool at our disposal is actually our body. Remember to look after that, too!
