A hands-on fruit tree pruning workshop in the hidden orchard at Purple Patch. Learn the basics of maintenance pruning and caring for established fruit trees. We will cover pruning principles and methods, practice our pruning cuts and have a go at giving the orchard trees some love! We’ll also chat about tools – how to look after them, and how to select the right tool for the job. And we’ll explore how to manage orchard habitats holistically.
There will be plenty of time for questions, and you are welcome to bring your lunch and eat it with us in the packing shed afterwards.
Whether you have a bit of experience or are a complete beginner – this is the workshop for you. Our aim is to equip participants with the skill and confidence to look after fruit trees and their habitats.

A practical exploration of urban forest gardening in the beautiful and established forest garden at Grow Wilder in Frenchay.
All welcome, this covers the basics! Come and find out how you can use the space you have – garden, patio or balcony – to create productive and wildlife-friendly habitats that feed you, are low maintenance and can stand up to increasingly extreme climate patterns. In a forest garden design, trees are entirely optional despite the name, so you needn’t have acres and acres at your disposal!
